(40 + 3)² = (40 + 3) (40 + 3)

= 40(40 + 3) + 3(40 + 3)

= 40(40) + 40(3) + 3(40) + 3(3)

= 1600 + 120 + 120 + 9

= 1600 + 240 + 9

= 1849

Therefore, 43² = 1849.

3. 14, 50 and 48.

We know that 2m,m²−1 and m²+1 is a Pythagorean triplet where m>1

according to question

smallest number =14means 2m =14

m=14/2=7m²-1= 7²-1

= 49-1= 48m²+1=7²+1

= 49+1=50

hence the required triplet is 14, 48 and 50
