Answer:

1) Federalism is a form of government in which the power is shared between a central authority and it's various constituent units. (vertical power sharing)

2) A coalition government is one that is formed by the coming together of 2 or more political parties, who form a political alliance and adopt a common programme. A coalition government is formed when no single party is able to win a clear majority in the election.

3) When power is taken away from the Central and State governments and given to Local government, it is called Decentralisation.

4) State list contains subjects of State and local importance like police, trade, commerce, agriculture and irrigation. The state government has the power to legislate on these subjects.

5) Union list includes subjects of National importance such as defence of the country, foreign affairs, banking, communication and currency. The Union Government alone can make laws relating to these subjects.

6) Sarpanch is the head/ president of the gram panchayat.

7) Residuary subjects are those subjects which do not come under the state, union or concurrent list. The union Government has the power to legislate on these subjects. Eg: computer software.

8) Gram sabha is the body that supervises the working of the gram panchayat. All the voters in the village are members of the gram sabha.

9) The rural local government is popularly known as Panchayati Raj.
