Now the general equation of any line is y=mx+c, where m is the slope.

this line's equation =>y=t (since it is a line through the origin, c=0 and such that m or tan(Θ) = 1, or Θ = 45 degrees, meaning equally inclined on x and y)

=> y=mt or m = \frac{y}{t}, since m=1, y=t.

=> what this means therefore is, the ratio y/t will always be 1 and for that to happen, equal distance should be travelled in equal intervals of time.
