1. energy flow in a food chain/web is always unidirectional.

it begins with the producers and ends with the decomposers.

2. when energy passes from one level to another 90% of it gets dissipation in the atmosphere and 10%of it gets passed on to the next trophic level. energy at every level is lost in activities such as nutrition, respiration and decomosition.
