Hi ,
Given quadratic equation is
2x² - 3x + 4 = 0
Compare above quadratic equation
with ax² + bx + c = 0
a = 2 , b = -3 , c = 4
Discreaminant = b² - 4ac
****************************************
b² - 4ac determines whether the
quadratic equation ax² + bx + c = 0
has real roots or not , b² - 4ac is
called the discreaminant of the
quadratic equation.
*****************************************
D = ( -3 )² - 4 ×2 × 4
= 9 - 32
= - 23
< 0
Therefore ,
D < 0 ,
the quadratic equation has no real
roots .
I hope this helps you.
