1. Distinguish between (ASI) a) inspiration and expiration b) aerobic and anaerobic respiration c) respiration and combustion d) photosynthesis and respiration
Answers
Answer:
a) Inspiration means taking in air where as Expiration means releasing out air.
b) Aerobic respiration means respiration in presence of Oxygen . Anaerobic respiration means respiration in absence of oxygen.
c) Respiration means taking in air and supplying oxygen to cells where as combustion means burning at high temperatures.
d) Photosynthesis is process of production of glucose in plants while respiration is supply of oxygen to cells.
Explanation :
a) In respiration process, there are two types of movements. Namely, inspiration and expiration. During Inspiration, the surrounding air is drawn into the lungs. This air gets purified by Alveoli and oxygen is supplied to cells through blood. After that, impurities in air like Carbon dioxide, Nitrogen etc are carried form cells to lungs by blood. This impure air has to be released out of body by a process called Expiration.
b) Aerobic respiration is respiration in presence of Oxygen. Anaerobic respiration is in absence of oxygen. The end product of Aerobic respiration is Glucose where as the end product of anaerobic respiration is Lactic acid.
c) Respiration is a process of taking in gases and supplying oxygen to the cells and removing the impure gases like carbon dioxide from the cells to outside environment. While combustion is burning of substances at a high temperatures. Burning of wood to form charcoal is an simple example for combustion reaction.
d) Photosynthesis is a process by which Glucose is formed by a series of reactions which can be divided into Light reaction and Dark reaction. On other hand, respiration is exchange of gases in and out of body.
