SPEED:
- speed is distance per unit of time
- speed is a scalar quantity
- speed has magnitude but no direction
- AVERAGE SPEED = TOTAL DISTANCE/ TIME TAKEN.
VELOCITY:
- Velocity is the displacement per unit time
- velocity has magnitude and direction
- velocity is a vector
- Average velocity: Displacement/ time taken.

The different between speed and velocity is
Speed : the rate of change of position of a body with time in any direction is speed , i.e. distance covered by time .
Velocity: the rate of change of
position of a body with time in a
given direction. i.e. displacement
by time.
