Step-by-step explanation:

WE HAVE:-

SUM OF TWO NUMBERS = 12

SUM THOSE NUMBERS SQUARE = 80

TO FIND:-

THOSE NUMBERS

METHOD USED:-

MIDDLE TERM SPLITTING METHOD

FORMULA used:-

(a-b)^2=a^2+b^2- 2ab

SOLUTION:-

LET THE NUMBERS BE x and y

ACCORDING TO THE QUESTION:-

x+y=12

y=12-x--------- ( ¡ )

x^2+y^2=80

x^2+(12-x)^2=80 [ From](i)

x^2+144+x^2-24x=80

2x^2-24x+144-80=0

2x^2-24x+64=0 [Dividing by 2]

x^2-12x+32=0

x^2-12x+32=0

x (x-8) -4 (x-8) =0

(x-8) (x-4) = 0

x= 8,4

when

x=8

x=4

when

x=4

x=8

SO THE NUMBERS ARE 8 AND 4
