I think the twin days they captured the Fortresses of Ciaudad Rodrigo and Badajoz in Spain by storm. These two fortresses dominated the entrance to Spain, coupled with the control of Elvas and Almedia the two Portugese frontier fortresses, meant that with a very strong field army the Napoleonic wars were finally tipping in Britain's favour. Napoleon now had war on two fronts, the Royal Navy was the worlds best and largest. Any add on opportunist war was doomed to eventual failure, ie, Americas 1812. With proven success victory was certain.
