The Normal Cell of an humam has 23 pairs of chromosomes  .(43 in number)..

Bt the Germ cell (Sperm or Ova) ..has only 23  chromosomes  means Half of the chrmosomes compared to other cells

When  Male(sperm - half chromosomes - 23) and femle(ova = half chromosomes= 23) Mingles the no of chromosomes comes to The normal no (full 46)

Human being have 23 pair of chromosomes out of which only one pair is calld sex chromosomes.
During fertilisation 23 chromosomes from male and 23 chromosomes from female get fuse to form a zygote of 23 pair of chromosome. After that the zygote go under mitotic and further devide to form an oofspring.
