Indian society is fast changing, so the new generation is adapting to changes in lifestyle and acquiring gadgets of convenience for their homes. The modern homemaker is the proud owner of items like the Dish Washer and Atta Maker, which help her to finish household work quicker and reduces dependence on servants. If she is a working woman, these articles have turned into necessities, as they aid her in managing time better. Social factors in cities have changed in a very positive way and, therefore, use of these gadgets is becoming a part of normal life in urban families. Besides, the husband and wife are able to take decisions regarding purchase of new articles for their home in a very judicious manner.
In the villages of India, major decisions are taken by men, who feel the womenfolk should continue doing the household chores in the time-honoured way. Hence, new gadgets are not purchased too often. In the well to do families, the women generally are not hard-pressed for time too. One other reason is of course the easy availability of servants.
In many Indian families, urban or rural, resistance to acquiring these articles comes as the members feel food or utensils should not be prepared or cleaned in any other manner but by hand, else they become or remain unclean. Hence, these items of utility are not allowed entry to these homes!
