Green revolution: green revolution was introduced in the year 1967 . The Indian council of agricultural research (ICAR) introduced this new strategy through land forms, promoting the use of High Yielding Variety (HYV) seeds and improved irrigation facilities, to increase the agricultural production. Green revolution, great increase in production of food grains (especially wheat and rice) that resulted in large part from the introduction into developing countries of new, high-yielding varieties, beginning in the mid-20th century. Its early dramatic successes were in Mexico and the Indian subcontinent.However there were certain limitation of the Green Revolution: Green revolutions resulted in loss of soil fertility due to increased use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Continuous use of groundwater for tube well irrigation reduced the water-table below the ground.
