2 tsp of sugar = 1/8 cup.

We have to subtract. Make the denominators same. Find the L.C.M. of 8 & 2. It is 8.

1/2 x 4/4 = 4/8.

Subtract 1/8 from 4/8.  4/8  -  1/8 = 3/8 cup of sugar the 1st recipe requires more.
