1.a. unsaturated hydrocarbons contain double or triple bonds,so they are highly reactive...hence inspite of showing substitution reactions, they show addition reaction.
B.Beacause, before reaction,as seen in reactants side, ethanol (C2H5OH)has only single oxygen atom, but after the reaction,it gets converted to ethanoic acid(CH3COOH),a two oxygen atom compound, this shows that oxygen is added during this reaction, thus it is an oxidation reaction.
C.Alchol is added with CuSO4 to make it poisonous or unfit for Normal consumption, thus called denatured alcohol.
2.ethanol can be converted to ethane by
C2H5OH+(-H2O)---CH2-CH2+H2---CH3-CH3
:--
•coverting ethanol to ethene by dehydration
C2H5OH -(H20)-----CH2-CH2
•converting ethene to ethane by addition or hydrogenation
CH2-CH2 +H2(ni/palladium)----CH3-CH3
3.Conc H2SO4 is used as a catalyst, and has a dual role:--
• Speeds up the reaction.
•Acts as a dehydrating agent, forcing the equilibrium to the right and resulting in a greater yield of ester.
