Degradation in the quality of life occurs due to rampant population growth, lack of economic opportunities, poor amenities available in the locality, lack of education and unchecked migration.
Population management is definitely an important area for improving the quality of life of the people. It has to be checked in two ways, viz. by lowering the birthrate and by restricting or controlling migration of people from outside the locality. The best methods for lowering birthrate are raising the age of marriage, providing better education to people, especially the girls, and instituting incentives/disincentives for heads of families commensurate with their family size.
