Mass of cake = 4kg

Pieces cut off = 2/3kg each.

Thus, Total no of pieces that can be cut out of this 4kg cake = 4/(2/3) pieces

 =  \frac{4kg}{ \frac{2}{3} kg}

 = 4 \times  \frac{3}{2}

 =  \frac{12}{2}

 = 6

Thus, a total of 6 pieces, of mass 2/3kg each, can be cut off from a cake of mass 4kg.
