When two matchboxes are placed side by side on a table and apply the same force at the same time the matchboxes will move forward but one cannot compare the difference between the motion of the two boxes unless he knows the mass of the two matchboxes. Obviously, when you apply some force on an object at rest, it will be in motion and will move in the direction of the force.

2. When the mass of the matchboxes is known, the matchbox with more mass will move slower than the one with less mass. This is because we know the formula, F=ma, so from this formula, we can see that acceleration is inversely proportional to mass, hence with more mass the acceleration will decrease.
