Andrew, the central character of the story Birth uttered these words since he was able to bring back to life Joe Morgan’s baby that was born dead, although at first it had seemed impossible to him. Thus he was able to keep up his promise that he had given to Joe Morgan. Andrew felt he was able to do something that was impossible which mean he had performed something wonderful, and which he was jubilant and contented at his own efforts and the achievement.

  • Andrew being a doctor, his primary duty was to save lives. Andrew had said these words in the exhilaration of saving the lives of mother as well as the child.
