Answer:

Value of p+q=32

Two whole numbers p and q when multiplied with each other, gives 31 as a result. But 31 is a prime number. It can only be represented by the product of 1 and the number itself.

 \large{ 31\begin{cases}1  \\  \times  \\ 31 \end{cases}}

The required value of p and q is 1 and 31 / 31 and 1 respectively. We have to find the sum.

Let p = 31 and q = 1

⇛ p + q = 31 + 1

⇛ p + q = 32

Let p = 1 and q = 31

⇛ p + q = 1 + 31

⇛ p + q = 32

In both cases, the result will be same i.e. 32. And we are done....
