1. Like most other substances,water expands on heating and contracts on cooling,but from 4°C to 0°C,water expands on cooling and contracts on heating,this phenomenon is known as anomalous expansion of water. From 4°C to 0°C, due to anomalous expansion,of water,volume will increase and thus density will decrease.

2. Due to anomalous expansion of water,density of water is maximum at 4°C,i.e,1000kgm^-3
