1)..Let the no. of students in the class be x.
Then 3/5x=girls.
x-3/5x=boys.
5x-3x/5=2x/5=boys.
no.of boys=200
2x/5=200
2x=200*5
x=1000/2
x=500
Total no. of stdents in the class are 500.

2)..Let he distance traveled be x.
distance traveled by car=350/5km=70km
distance traveled by bus=151km
remained distance=x-(70+151)=x-221...................(i)
1/2 distance remained.
Therefore remained distance=1/2x..........(ii)
Now,equation(i)=equation(ii)
x-221=1/2x
x=221+1/2x
x-1/2x=221
1/2x=221
x=221*2
x=442
Total distance traveled is 442km and remained distance is 1/2*442=221km

Answer:

No of boys =200

No of girls= 3/5 out of total

Let no of students=x

No of girls 3/5x given

x-3/5=Boys

No of boys =200

2x/5=200

2x=1000

x=1000/2

x=500

check

Boys+girls=total 200+300=500
