in collision momentum is conserved

before and after the collision momentum is conserved

take an example here

suppose two bodies having equal mass one at rest and another moving with some velocity

then after the collision ( head on collision) the body which is in motion come to rest and another body at rest start moving with same velocity as other body

so according to this momentum before and after the collision remain conserved
