The Indian National Congress is a political party in India which was established in 1885, it was the first contemporary nationalist inclination to emerge in the British Empire in Asia and Africa. From the 19th century, and especially after 1920, under the influence of Mahatma Gandhi, Congress turned to the supreme head of the Indian independence campaign. Congress-led India to autonomy from the British regime, and dramatically affected other anti-colonial nationalist actions in the British Empire.
