the temperature in The thermometer Q will rise faster, because the thermometer Q is placed vertically above the candle flame, while the candle P is held horizontal in line with the candle, since the gases formed after combustion are hot, these gases have less density compared with atmospheric air, that's why these hot gases will move upward in the atmosphere. hence more heat will be absorbed by Q thermometer as compared to P thermometer.
