1)Is it a step up or step down transformer?

Answer:- Step down.

2)Calculate the current, A.

Answer:- 1.2 ampere.

3)Calculate the current, B.

Answer:- 0.05 ampere.

The working principle of a transformer:-

When an AC input is given in the primary coil, the whole iron core becomes strongly magnetize with alternating polarity. So the magnetic field lines keep changing their directions continuosly as it is an AC input. So the secondary coil keeps cutting these field lines, hence an EMF is produced and current passes in the secondary coil even though not having connection with primary coil.
