(2) Covalent solid
A network solid or covalent network solid is a chemical compound in which the atoms are bonded by covalent bonds in a continuous network extending throughout the material. In a network solid there are no individual molecules, and the entire crystal or amorphous solid may be considered a macromolecule.
1) Molecular solid
A molecular solid is a solid consisting of discrete molecules. The cohesive forces that bind the molecules together are van der Waals forces, dipole-dipole interactions, quadrupole interactions, π-π interactions, hydrogen bonding, halogen bonding, London dispersion forces, and in some molecular solids, coulombic interactions.
(3) Amorphous solid
Amorphous solids include both natural and man-made materials. The most frequently cited example of an amorphous solid is glass. However, amorphous solids are common to all subsets of solids. Additional examples include thin film lubricants, metallic glasses, polymers, and gels.
(4) Metallic Solid
Metallic solids are composed of metal cations held together by a delocalized "sea" of valence electrons. Because their electrons are mobile, metallic solids are good conductors of heat and electricity.
