My Favourite Festival

My favourite festival is Durga Puja. This festival is famous all over India and is the main puja for West Bengal. It is celebrated in the sharad ritu (Winter season), in the month of September or October. This festival remarks the worship of 9 avataras of Maa Durga. The tenth day of this festival is remarked as the vadh (or killing) of Ravana (The devil) by Lord Rama. Celebration of Durga Puja in Kolkata is very popular. Different types of pandals are prepared. People from different places come to visit this festival. People enjoy celebrating Durga Puja a lot. On the tenth day (or Dessehra) during visarjana (immersion) of murti in water, every people have tears in their eyes. It's my most favourite festival.
