1. we use grip on bat to increase grip on the bat, this is due to increase of friction between our hand and bat.

2. we can walk easily on floor, because of friction between floor & our legs. friction help us to get grip on the things

though friction helps us for getting grip, but friction also uses some of the energy.

e.g you use bicycle or bikes to travel distance places. when you are pedalling, the bicycle some of power is lost due to friction, between rear & forward gears of bicycle. some energy is lost as frictional energy between wheels & road.

because of this we use lubricating oil to reduce friction.

friction depends on

nature of the contact surface

(rough or smooth), rougher surface will have higher coefficient of friction as compared to smoother surface.
