1.) The heart is made up of four chambers:

two upper chambers known as the left atrium and right atrium and two lower chambers called the left and right ventricles. It is also made up of four valves: the tricuspid, pulmonary, mitral and aortic valves.

2.) The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood from the inferior vena cava.

3.) The right ventricle pumps blood from the right atrium to the pulmonary artery. The pulmonary artery sends the deoxygenated blood to the lungs.

4.) The left atrium receives oxygenated blood from the lungs.

5.) The left ventricle pumps the blood to the aorta which will distribute the oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.
