1. Name the Structure shown.
2. Name the parts numbered 1-5 .
3. What is the most apparent difference between A and B in the Structure shown?
4. Describe the mechanism which brings about the change in the structure depicted in A and B
Answers
Answer:
1)Its the stomata.
2)1-Chloroplast
2-Gaurd cell
3-nucleus
4-Cell wall
5-Stoma (stomatal opening)
3)In A the stoma is open(exchange of gas) and in b the stomata is closed (no exchange of gas)
4)the guard cells open and closed this is being possible because of osmosis in the cells
Answer:
4.The opening and closing of stomata completely depends on guard cells . During the day time the chloroplast present in the guard cells undergo photosynthesis which leds to the production of ATP . This ATP increases the concentration inside the guard cells and makes the guard cells hypotonic . As a result endo-osmosis takes place . So more water is drawn into the cells and cell become turgid and they move outward to open out the stomatal pore .
Reverse happens at night . Due to decrease in concentration of ATP ,the cell becomes hypertonic and exo-osmosis takes place . The water gradually moves out of the cell and the cell becomes flaccid . Thus the stomatal pore closes .
