1.One Autumn morning the temperature went up from -4ºC to 5ºC.
(a) By how many degrees did the temperature rise? During the afternoon
the temperature then fell by seven degrees from 5ºC
(b) What was temperature at the end of the afternoon ?.

(I). Given that temperature was -4 °C in the morning and it went up to 5 °C.
By how many degrees, it rose....
= Risen Temperature - Initial Temperature
= 5 - (-4) = 9 Degrees.
Hence, it rose by 9 Degrees.

(II). Then, it fell by 7 degrees from 5°C.
Then, Resultant Temperature = 5 - 7
= -2 °C.
