Honey bees live in beehives. They are social insects which live in colonies hence, a hive consists of different types of bees. A beehive consists of a single queen, hundreds of male drones and thousands of female worker bees.

Drones or male bees have large eyes. They do not have a stinger. Their main function is to fertilize the queen.

Worker bees do the labours of the hive. They have stingers to defend the beehive.

Queen bee is the largest in size. Its main function is to lay eggs.
