(i) We have:
−11/5 and 4/7
So,
−11/5 + 4/7
= −11×7/5×7 + 4×5/7×5
= −77/35 + 20/35
= (−77+20)/35
= −57/35
Now,
4/7 and −11/5
= 4/7 + −11/5
= 4×5/7×5 + −11×7/5×7
= 20/35 and −77/35
= (20–77)/35 = −57/35
Hence, verified.

−11/5 and 4/7
So,
−11/5 + 4/7
= −11×7/5×7 + 4×5/7×5
= −77/35 + 20/35
= (−77+20)/35
= −57/35
Now,
4/7 and −11/5
= 4/7 + −11/5
= 4×5/7×5 + −11×7/5×7
= 20/35 and −77/35
= (20–77)/35 = −57/35
Hence, verified.
