Given:

Distance covered by Raf in the south direction = 6 km

Distance covered by Raf in the west direction = 2 km

Distance covered by Raf in the north direction = 1 km

To find:

How long did he travel?

Is the boat’s displacement equal to zero?

Solution:

The total distance travelled by Raf= 6 km + 2 km + 1 km

= 9 km

The boat's displacement is not zero because it does not come back to its original position. The path of the boat is shown in the figure.

Thus, Raf travelled 9 km and thr boat's displacement is not zero.

HELLO DEAR,

GIVEN:- Raf rides a boat for a fishing trip at south direction = 6 km

After half hour of waiting, no fishes were caught, so he goes west = 2 km

Then he follows a school of fish north = 1 km

TO FIND:-

A. How long did he travel?

B. Is the boat’s displacement equal to zero?

SOLUTION:-

A) The total distance travelled by boat= 6km south + 2 km west + 1km north .

= 9 km.

B) The displacement by boat

= √{(5)²+(2)²}

= √(25+4)

=√29 km.

So, the boat displacement is not equal to zero

THANKS.
