The most peculiar section in almost all scholastic,
entrance and employment tests is Reading
Comprehension (RC, as it is normally called). The skills
in RC make a lot of difference to one's chances of
achieving good grades or getting selected.
Most of the students find it difficult to tackle topics
that are diverse from the fields they are
comfortable with. One needs to develop a taste for
even the most obscure and boring topic on this
planet. For achieving success in RC, one should be
able to understand and even with an average speed,
one can succeed if he/she implements the
strategies
Broadly speaking, RC passages can be classified into
new categories. Fact based RC is the simplest form
of RC. Passages that have a lot of information in the
firm of names, numbers should be read in less time.
Don't try to memorise any facts, numbers or names.
There is no need to even remember them. Make
yourself familiar with the structure of the passage.
Notice the expression, tone and intent of the author.
While answering questions, identify the paragraph
that supplies information regarding that question.
