1.] The government has declared to boost the production of ethanol by producing 10 percent blending with petroleum in an attempt to solve the issue of sugar imbroglio.  

The decision has been taken to promote the production of ethanol in a big way as the long-term, solution for cash-starved sugar mills that owe more than Rs 14000 crores due to cane growers.  

The sugar mills have been directed to enhance the production of ethanol from the 2015-16 marketing year to meet the demand of 230 crore liters for 10 percent blending with petrol.
