method.
(i) The cost of 17 notebooks is 212.50. Find
the cost of 20 notebooks.
(ii) Gayatri can read 12 pages of a book in
1 hour. How many pages can she read in
90 minutes?
(iii) A scooter travels 308 km in 14 litres of
petrol. How far can it travel in 18 litres of
petrol?
(iv) 45 apples can be packed in 9 boxes. How
many boxes will be needed to pack 105

(i) Cost of 17 nbk = ₹212.50

Cost of 1 nbk = ₹212.50/17

Cost of 20 nbk = ₹(212.50×20/17)

= ₹ 250.

(ii) Pages can be read in 60 min = 12

Pages can be read in 1 min = 12/60

Pages can be read in 90 min

= 12×90/60 = 18 pages.

(iii) Dist. trav. in 14 l = 308 km

Dist. trav. in 1 l = 308/14 km

Dist. trav. in 18 l = 308×18/14 km

= 396 km

(iv) 45 apples can be packed in 9 boxes

1 apple can be packed in 9/45 box

105 apples can be packed in 9×105/45 boxes = 21 boxes.
