1. Phenolphthalein is often used as an indicator in acid-base titrations. It is slightly soluble soluble in water. It turns acidic in acidic solution and turns pink in basic solution. Since soap solution is basic, so phenophthalein turns pink in pink solution.

So the answer is that it is pink in color.

2. Chlorine gas

The chlorine gas obtained as the byproduct in the chlor alkali process by electrolysing brine (aqeous solution of sodium chloride ) is used for manufacturing bleaching powder by passing the obtained chlorine gas over dry slaked lime i.e calcium hydroxide.
