1. Steam at 100ºC causes more severe burns than water at 100ºC.

Steam will cause more severe burns even though they are at the same temperature because additional latent heat ( which is the heat used to convert a liquid to a gas without raising the temperature ) is present in the steam which will thus cause more severe burns.

Because of latent heat of evaporisation its a hidden heat energy which is absorbed by gases during their heating and convertion from liquid to break force of attraction between particle of liquid to be evaporised this is the reason of more severe burn caused by vapour of 100°c then that of water.
