The additive inverse of a number is: Any negative number and add the additive inverse to it(or the number without the negative symbol) equals zero.  So to check your work, add your number together and if it is zero, then you are correct. To make it all easier all you have to do is remove the negative symbol from the number.

The reciprocal of a number is the opposite and same as an additive inverse. For example, the additive inverse is getting the negative number's opposite. For example, -2+x=0 if x=2 and the reciprocal would be the opposite of a positive or negative. To make it easier you either add or remove the negative symbol.
