1. Given: Area of the square field = 49 hectares

               Cost of fencing = $15/hectare

To find: Cost of fencing the field

Solution:

Fencing is done around the boundary line of an area. Which in terms of shapes is called the perimeter.

We need to find the perimeter of the square field, for which we need to know the length of each side. We will find it using the area.

.: Area of square = a^{2} (a = length of each side of the square)

According to given question,

a^{2} = 49

a = \sqrt{49}                                                [.: \sqrt{49} = 7]

a = 7 units

.: Perimeter of square = 4a (a = length of each side of the square)

Perimeter of square field = 4 × 7 = 28 hectares

:. Cost of fencing 1 hectare field = $15

Cost of fencing 28 hectares field = $15 × 28

                                                       = $420

2. Given: Perimeter of land = 145 m

               Cost of fencing = AED 100/m

To find: Cost of fencing the land

Solution:

Cost of fencing 1 m land = AED 100

Cost of fencing 145 m land = AED 100 × 145

                                             = AED 14500
