QUESTION ALONG WITH ANSWERS ---

======================
1.) The density of brass is 8.4 g/cm^3. What do you mean by this statement?

Ans 1.) The density of Brass is 8.4 g/cm^3. This statement means that every 1 cm^3 of Brass has a mass of 8.4 g. It is because density equals mass per unit volume.

2.)How does the density of a liquid or gas vary with temperature?

Ans 2.) We know that intermolecular force in molecules of liquid and gas is weak. Because of this reason when we increase the temperature the molecules start moving vigorously. This vigorous movement causes presence of less no. of molecules in per unit volume because of which Density decreases on increasing temperature in case of liquids and gases. But on Cooling them the molecules the molecules come closer and more molecules are present in per unit volume thereby increasing density. Thus, we can say that Density is inversely proportional to Temperature.

3.)Explain the meaning of the statement 'Relative density of Aluminum is 2.7'.

Ans. 3.) Relative density is the ratio between the density of given substance to that of density of 1 of water at 4° C.
Density of water at 4°C = 1 g/cm^3

The above statement 'Relative density of Aluminum is 2.7' implies that the density of Aluminium is 2.6 times the density of water at 4 °C.
