let the smaller number be x .

let the larger number be y.

show average =sum of all observation \number of observation

62=x+y\2

124=x+y

124-x =y

thus the smaller number be x.

the larger number be=124-x

now we are given that if 2 is added to the smallest number becomes 1:2.

x+2\124-x =1\2

2(x+2)=124-x

2x+4 =124-x

3x=120

x=40

thus the smaller number is 40.

so larger number =124-40=84

now the difference between larger and smaller number is=84-40=44.

hence the difference of number is 44.
