Answer:

let 'x' be the numerator and 'y' be the denominator

according to the question,

x=y-2 --------eq (1)

x+1/y+1 =3/4

y-2+1/y+1 = 3/4     [from eq (1) x=y-2]

y-1/y+1 = 3/4

4[y-1] = 3[y+1]

4y-4 = 3y+3

4y-3y-4-3=0

y-7=0

y=7

we know that x=y-2

therefore, x=7-2= 5

the original number is 5/7

hope this helps
