Answers to questions are given below -

1- Air pollution refers to degradation in quality of air we breathe. Degradation in quality of air further refers to increase in concentration of pollutant gases, which are harmful for humans. Rate of air pollution spreading worldwide was found to be 8% in research conducted in past years.

2.- Man made causes of air pollution are increased number of vehicles, use of harmful gases releasing equipment like AC, refrigerator.

Natural causes of air pollution are volcanic eruptions, forest fires.

3- Short term impact of air pollution are seen as smog, decreased visibility, increased harmful gases level.

4- Long term negative impacts of air pollution are respiratory diseases, allergies.

5- Efforts made to combat air pollution are regulation of human activities. Controlled usage of vehicles, refrigerators, AC, recycling products, using bicycles. Planting more trees to get pure air. These practices has been started by aware individuals.

6- We need to educate our self and others over the highly negative harm of human activities. Education should be in terms of medical problems which elderly and children suffer. We must practice all which we can, to reduce air pollution.

Air Pollution

Explanation:

  • 1) Air pollution is the presence of higher concentration of pollutants in air causing the quality of air to degrade and causing harm to humans and other living things around the world. It is estimated that the rate of spread of air pollution spreading is about 8% worldwide.
  • 2) Air pollution is caused by the smoke from automobiles and factories, depletion of forest cover, greenhouse gases etc. Some natural disasters like volcanic eruptions and forest fire have also contributed to the increase in air pollution.
  • 3) In the short-term, air pollution causes decreased visibility and eye irritation due to smog and other harmful gases in the air.
  • 4) In the long-term, breathing polluted air may lead to respiratory diseases like asthma and wheezing and cause allergic skin lesions or eye infections.
  • 5) Various rules and regulations have been implemented to control the emissions from automobiles and other appliances. Afforestation is being promoted and awareness is sought regarding deforestation and burning of vegetable matter, etc.
  • 6) We need to spread awareness and educated people regarding the ill effects of air pollution and the ways to combat pollution. Strict rules should be enforced regarding the use of harmful gas in appliances. Our practice to reduce air pollution should become our way of life.
