Answer:

The poet thinks that readers might confuse total inactivity with death, as he had urged the readers to stay still for a while, without moving their limbs or working on fields to prepare salt. Although the poet believes that silences assist in introspection and help in taking a break from the world of frenzy activity, he does not advocate total inactivity and death. Rather, he believes that observing stillness once in a while helps people to spring back in action, rejuvenated. He supports his thought by citing the example of the mother earth. The poet uses the symbol of the earth which seems to be dead but is actually participating in the cycle of life and death by keeping still and then again coming back to life. This stillness is not the same as inactivity but a quietness open to rejuvenation of the spirit.
