1. A cell containing 23 pair i.e 46 chromosomes is known as a diploid cell, here n=23.

2. Haploid cell is the one with exactly half no. of chromosomes than the diploid. When a sex/germ cell divides into two only by meiotic division, it splits the cell in two with exactly half no. of chromosomes.
