Answer:

Due to the different number of electrons in each molecules and according to VSEPR theory,the total number of valence electrons in carbon dioxide is 4 from carbon and 6 from oxygen. There are only bonding electrons around the carbon which repel equally so the molecule is linear

For hydrogen, the total number of valence electron is 1 from each hydrogen and 6 from oxygen. We cannot put hydrogen in the centre because it can only hold two electrons so the molecule is angular structure
