Zinc chloride and hydrogen gas are formed, when zinc granules are treated with hydrochloric acid. Similarly, hydrogen gas and zinc nitrate are formed when zinc granules are treated with nitric acid.  On adding dilute hydrochloric acid to the reaction mixture, white precipitate disappears.
