1) What happens when a piece of
(a) zinc metal is added to copper sulphate solution?
(b) aluminium metal is added to dilute hydrochloric acid?
(c) silver metal is added to copper sulphate solution?
Also, write the balanced chemical equation if the reaction occurs

2) What happens when zinc granules are treated with dilute solution of H2SO4, HCl, HNO3, NaCl and NaOH, also write the chemical equations if reaction occurs.

Heya!!Here is your answer friend ⤵⤵

(1)

(A). Zn + CuSO4 -----------ZnSO4 + Cu

➡A displacement reaction takes place between zinc and copper sulphate . Zinc being more reactive then Cooper displaces it from its aqueous solution.

(B). 2Al +.6 HCl -----------2AlCl3 + 3H2 ⬆

➡This is an example of a reaction between a metal and an acid which results in the formation of. a corresponding metal salt and HYDROGEN gas is evolved.

(C). Ag + CuSO4 -------------No Reaction

➡No reaction takes place because silver being less reactive than copper cannot displace it from its aqueous solution.

(2). Zinc granules are treated with ,

➡ Zn + H2SO4 ---------- ZnSO4 + H2⬆

Here a metal reacts with an acid which results in the formation of a corresponding metal salt and HYDROGEN gas is evolved.

➡. Zn + HCl----------ZnCl. + H2⬆

again it's a reaction between a metal and an acid which results in the formation of a corresponding metal salt and HYDROGEN gas is evolved.

➡Zn + HNO3 --------no reaction takes place .

This is because HNO3 is a. Strong oxidizing agent . It oxidized the hydrogen produced and itself gets reduced to any of the oxides of nitrogen .

➡ Zn + NaCl --------no reaction takes place

This is because Zn is less reactive then Na and hence cannot displace it from its aqueous solution.

➡. Zn +2 NaOH--------Na2 ZnO2 + H2⬆

This is an example of a reaction between a metal and a base . Sodium zincate is formed here and HYDROGEN gas is evolved.

(a)    When zinc metal is added to copper sulphate solution, the colour of CuSO4 solution disappears and colourless zinc sulphate solution is formed. Solid brown copper is deposited as it displaces by Zn.

Zn + CuSO4---------> ZnSO4 + Cu

(b) Aluminium displaces hydrogen from HCl and hydrogen gas is evolved with soluble aluminium chloride.

2Al + 6HCl ---------->  2AlCl3 + 3H2

(c) Silver is a Nobel metal and does not exhibit any reaction with copper sulphate.
